Proper Solar Well Pump Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Maintenance on your HydroJet solar well pump couldn’t be simpler.
Maintenance On Your Solar panels
Maintenance on your solar panels is easier than you could have thought. Every couple of years, your solar panels need to be cleaned some soap and water. As long as you have sunlight, your solar panels will continue to operate for 25 or so years without any additional maintenance.
Well Pump Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- If you turn on a faucet and you have little or no water, your pump may be set too high in your well. As you pump pulls water from your aquifer during high demand times, it may drain enough water that your pump is no longer submerged. Additionally, during droughts/dry seasons, your aquifer’s water levels may not be high enough to accomodate your pump’s depth.
- If your pump runs continuously you may have a break someewhere in the line, or a check valve in the riser pipe may be stuck open and need to be repaired. The break, if there, will either be between the pump and the building or within the building’s plumbing. A soggy area in the yard might indicate that there is a break in the pump line. You may not be able to tell if your pump is running continuously unless you have a small control light that goes on when the pump is running. Another way to check is to shut off water to the house and observe the water pressure gauge. If it holds steady, the check valves are working and there are no leaks in the lines. If the pressure drops, there is a leak in the line to the house, or there is a problem with a check valve. You may wish to contact a professional to assist with your repairs if this is the case.
- The last typical problem is that your pump will run for a few seconds and then shut off. Most likely, this means that pressure is building up too fast, which means that there is not enough air in the pressure tank. It is recommended that you bring in a professional to help restore proper functioning of your pressure tank and well pump system at this point.
In reality, your solar well pump is maintenance free except. If one of the simple problems above occurs, the fix is generally low-cost, fast and simple.
