Silicon Solar Uses Solar Energy at Bainbridge NY Facility
Silicon Solar Inc is a world-wide leader in Solar and Renewable Energy Technology, based in Upstate, NY. Silicon Solar also has two offices in Upstate NY (Bainbridge and Ithaca), as well as Connecticut and overseas. This domestic and international presence allows Silicon Solar to offer the very best Solar Energy Products at the best prices.
Silicon Solar also is a firm believer in using their solar energy products on their own facilities. This serves many purposes:
- First, it helps Silicon Solar keep their operating costs lower by limiting their reliance on ever-more expensive utilities.
- Second, it educates the local community on the benefits of solar energy, and that these technologies do indeed work in areas such as Upstate, NY
- Third, the systems serve as a great display piece where Silicon Solar is able to show off the latest in Solar Energy Technology being used in practical, every day applications
Currently, Silicon Solar utilizes their SunMaxx Solar Hot Water Systems, which they design, manufacture and distribute, on their Bainbridge, NY Office. There are currently three SunMaxx Solar Hot Water Systems actively working at the Bainbridge Facility.
The first system is a 6 SunMaxx-20 Evacuated Tube Solar System which provides domestic hot water and radiant baseboard heating for the facility’s main sales office. The second system is a 6 SunMaxx-FP Flat Plate Solar System that offsets a portion of the hot water needed to heat the facility’s warehouse, which is heated by in-floor radiant heat loops. The third system is a single SunMaxx-20 Evacuated Tube Solar System that heats a 40-gallon Solar Hot Water Storage Tank, and is used for demonstration purposes only, allowing visitors to the facility to see a SunMaxx Solar Hot Water System, and its components, in action.
A small PV System on the roof of the Bainbridge facility charges a battery bank inside, which allows visitors to see how a home PV System would be connected, laid out, and how it works when all components are installed and functioning properly.
Silicon Solar also plans to make use of its PV Division in the near future. Plans have been drawn up to install a 10kw Photovoltaic (solar electric) system on the warehouse roof. The new PV system will offset the majority of the facility’s electrical usage, allowing the company to save hundreds, or thousands, of dollars in energy bills every year.
