Executives Go Green at Silicon Solar
In true Earth Day spirit, the officers of Silicon Solar have decided to go green even more by purchasing hybrid vehicles. President and CEO Adam Farrell and brother and Vice President Matt Farrell recently purchased Toyota Priuses, which they will both use as their everyday vehicles.
“While we will not require our employees to drive hybrids, we are in the process of devising an incentive system for them to do so,” says Adam.
Within the upcoming months, the two will design custom solar charging systems, as an alternative means to powering the hybrids, with the hope of improving upon the technology and bringing it further to market. By testing out the technology themselves first, they hope to be able to assure their customers that their solar charging systems work seamlessly.
The brothers have already taken numerous steps to reduce their personal carbon footprints, including the integration of solar hot water and electricity systems on the rooftops of their offices and personal residences. Their employees have followed suit, with many of them adding solar garden lights and accessories in their own backyards.
