Cornell University Solar Internship ProgramAdam
Silicon Solar Inc has long been the leading online retailer, distributor, manufacturer and designer of solar energy products. The company founded, owned, and led by Adam Farrell, a Cornell University student, has grown from a small home business to one the strongest solar energy companies in the world. Now, with their tremendous resources behind them, Silicon Solar is offering an intern program for college students to work in the solar field, learning the principles of solar energy design and the fundamentals of the market as a whole.
Silicon Solar Inc, which now includes a full design, manufacturing, service and sales team spread over two New York offices, a California office just outside of San Diego in Vista, CA, and a manufacturing plant in China is looking to educate tomorrow’s leaders in the solar energy market with the fundamental principles that will help to shape and reshape the market over the coming years.
Silicon Solar Founder and President, Adam Farrell, says “I am excited to have these young men and women working with us. They represent the very best that America has to offer over the next few years, and they are all a really bright bunch of people. They are all interested and active in the renewable energy field, and I am honored that we can offer them a place to really learn what solar energy is all about. These young men and women will certainly have a leg up when they are looking for jobs in the next few years, and I think it is great that we can use the resources of our company to help them grow as people, and climb as professionals.”
The Students in Silicon Solar Inc’s Internship program are all students at Cornell University, and all receive college credit for their work and study with the company, on top of the immeasurably valuable experience of working in one of the fastest growing and most important fields in the entire world.
“It is a very exciting undertaking,” says Silicon Solar Vice President, Matthew Farrell. “We have a highly motivated, highly intelligent group of young men and women who are hungry to get involved. They are learning everything from the basic and advanced specifications of solar energy, corporate structure, market research and marketing. These are tools that will serve these young men and women for the rest of their lives, whatever industry they end up working in.”
Silicon Solar has taken single interns in the past few years, but this year, they expanded their offering to a larger pool of students, and even set up a new office for the interns to work out of right in Ithaca, NY near Cornell University. This is a big step forward for Silicon Solar, and shows their willingness and desire to give back and help to train the next generation of solar industry leaders and specialists.
It is a proven fact that when businesses and students work together, it is not only the students and business that are rewarded, but the industry and American economy and workforce as a whole. Silicon Solar is proud to do its part to drive the future of the solar energy market by educating those young men and women who will undoubtedly make a difference in the industry throughout their career.
