Can Solar Save the World?
Silicon Solar is now not only bringing solar to our customers, but to everyone across the globe. Solar power is not just a way to save money and protect the environment, but also enables a pathway for economic and social improvement in rural and developing communities.
Now partnered with the United Nations’ Energy Access Practitioner Network, Silicon Solar supports the Sustainable Energy for All Initiative which improves opportunity for better education, health, food safety, economic growth, and opportunity for women. The initiative’s primary goal is to achieve universal access to modern energy services by 2030 and do so by using renewable forms of energy, such as solar, which are portable, conflict-free, affordable, and sustainable.
Our Empower Earth campaign seeks to help eradicate energy poverty and bring light to all corners of the world. With electrification, solar lamps can extend school hours and computers can increase information access. Also with the help of solar, medical clinics can power their vaccine refrigerators and better maintain medical records. Nearly two million deaths can be avoided annually by eliminating the toxic fumes that result from burning biomass when cooking, and replacing kerosene lamps with clean solar lamps. Solar also provides economic benefits by opening up new business markets and replacing expensive fuels. Silicon Solar is also helping support programs that empower women to gain employment by nixing the need to travel to gather biofuels, and allows women to generate household income by selling solar products. Lastly, solar can even improve food security by expanding irrigation systems, which nourishes the farmer’s profit and the community’s food supply.
How can you help Empower Earth? Visit our webpage https://www.siliconsolar.com/empower-earth/ to help in two ways. One, you can make a charitable donation to one of our fundraising projects that help provide solar solution to a select struggling community. Or, help us donate one “Empower Hour” to local schools and non-profit organizations. For every 10 likes we receive on social media (facebook, twitter, Pinterest, Google+) a Silicon Solar employee devotes one hour of educational outreach service to our community on solar, renewable energy, and green living. With your help, we can create a brighter future for all!
