Information Guide

Our 12v OEM series flexible modules are great for integrating into your custom solar battery charger. With solder pads at both ends of the solar cells, interconnecting our 12v flexible series modules is a simple tasks.

Each of our thin film flexible solar modules come pre-built with a durable junction box and a reverse blocking diode made from marine grade material.

However, depending on the size of your system, we recommend use of the flexible solar cell accessories which allow you to attach extensions for longer reach from solar panel to solar battery, or to protect against higher output given from a large power source. We recommend that each solar panel have a charge controller to limit any chances of damaging your thin film flexible solar panel.

In a paper to be published in an upcoming issue of the journal Applied Physics Letters, Wake Forest researchers describe how they have achieved record efficiency for organic or flexible, plastic solar cells by creating “nano-filaments” within light absorbing plastic, similar to the veins in tree leaves. This allows for the use of thicker absorbing layers in the devices, which capture more of the sun’s light.

Efficient flexible solar panels are extremely desirable because they are inexpensive and light weight, especially in comparison to traditional silicon solar panels. Traditional solar panels are heavy and bulky and convert about 12 percent of the light that hits them to useful electrical power. Researchers have worked for years to create flexible, or “conformal,” organic solar cells that can be wrapped around surfaces, rolled up or even painted onto structures.
