The Great Lake region in Ontario has quite the future to look forward to. With 66 wind turbines being put up, the Great Lake region has started looking into alternative energy with the rising prices of gasoline. With towers as high as 25-story buildings, nobody can predict how alternative energy will alter Canada.

Wind Power is one of the fastest-growing form of energy in the United Stated today. However, it commands only around 1 percent of the U.S. energy market. On the outskirts of a small fishing village, a village called Port Burwell contains a 99-megawatt wind farm that has a collect of wind turbines across a 19-mile region. Leased by forty-two landowners, multiple turbines were placed and entered into a 20-year lease agreement with a 20-year option to renew.

For the Great Lake region, the switch into Wind Power will be putting the wind that comes off the lakes into renewable energy. The Great Lake region is taking advantage of an energy source and not harming the environment.

Reported from the U.S. Department of Energy has stated that wind has the potential to produce $80 billion in economic activity. With each turbine in the Great Lake region generating 1.5 megawatts, each parcel is no closer than one mile and no grated than two miles from Lake Erie’s northern shoreline. The wind farm collectively produces enough electricity for about 25,000 homes reported from the Ontario Ministry of Energy.
