Can SunMaxx collectors be used in freezing conditions?
Can SunMaxx collectors be used in freezing conditions?
Solution
Yes, the SunMaxx tubes were designed to operate in temperatures as cold as -35 C. Good heat output is achieved in freezing conditions as long as there is sunlight. If you live in an area with subzero temperatures you should have a freeze protection system. You can do this by using a controller with a low temperature setting so if the manifold drops below a preset temperature the pump will circulate warmer water throughout the pipes. You can also use a closed loop system with a glycol/ water mixture.
