Frequently Asked Questions
Check out our great FAQs and Answers for our Solar Panels below:
1) What types of panels does Silicon Solar carry?
Silicon Solar carries a wide assortment of panels from small, encapsulated single cells with an output of less than 1 watt, to 230 watt high output panels designed for larger PV arrays. We also carry panels comprised of monocrystalline silicon, polycrystalline silicon, and amorphous silicon cells.
2) What is the difference between solar cells and solar panels?
Solar cells are the “active ingredient” in the building blocks of solar panels. The voltage that an individual cells produce is quite low. Typically, these cells are connected in series that increase the voltage which allows the panel to produce electricity in a useable form. In addition, individual solar cells are quite brittle, so solar panels are encapsulated, laminated, or otherwise made more durable so that they can be placed outdoors to capture sunlight without fear of damage or destruction. Thus a small single cell that is encapsulated for outdoor use is still termed a solar panel.
3) Can Silicon Solar help me determine which panels are best for me?
Absolutely. Whether you need a solar panel to charge a motion sensor light, your cell phone, an RV battery, or to power your home, we can help you determine which product will meet your needs. Please call customer service at 1.800.786.0329.
