1) I live at a high latitude, will these billboard lights work for me?

Absolutely.  Our headquarters are located in Upstate New York and we use several of these lights around our properties which work extremely well.  We also have several customers who use our billboard lights in the area.  The Northeast is located in a “low insolation” area.  Insolation is essentially a measure of the intensity of solar radiation at a given place.  At Silicon Solar, we have created high, medium, and low insolation solar billboard lighting kits that compensate for the intensity of the solar radiation in any location in the U.S.  Low insolation kits compensate for the reduced sunlight intensity by increasing the panel and battery bank sizes.  While these kits may cost slightly more than high insolation kits, Silicon Solar Guarantees a high output, high quality product that can illuminate your billboard through the night.  See our “How To” and “Learning Center” sections for more information.  In addition, each EnviroLight should be configured by a Sales Representative who can assist you in determining which panel configuration and battery backup are appropriate for your location and operation.

2) Will the EnviroLight Kits illuminate billboards during the winter?

Yes.  Our charging and storage systems were designed around insolation hours on December 21, the shortest day of the year.  However, our kits can have fully customizable running times (not recommended to exceed 8 hours in winter months).  Furthermore, the charging systems are designed to last for 2 days of operation with no sun exposure.  Therefore, even after 2 consecutive days of completely overcast and cloudy weather, our lights will still illuminate your billboard.

3) How bright is each EnviroLight?

Extremely bright.  Each lighting head unit utilizes ultra bright LEDs to produce 100000 LUX or roughly 10000 lumens per square foot.  Each unit brightly illuminates 30 feet of signage.

How to Determine Which EnviroLight Series Kit is Best For You:

The following information is designed to provide you with a general overview of the type of EnviroLight System you may need.  Please contact a EnviroLight sales representative who can help to fully customize a kit for your needs at (800) 786-0329.

Kits are designed for various insolation levels.  This map will provide you with an idea of whether you will need a high, medium, or low insolation level kit.

EnviroLight X: fully light a single sided billboard up to 30′ wide.

EnviroLight 2X: fully light a double-sided billboard up to 30′ wide or a single sided sign up to 60ft.

EnviroLight 4X: fully light a double sided billboard up to 60′ wide or a single sided sign up to 120ft.
