Canada Solar Energy: In Canada, incentives are available from the ecoENERGY for renewable Heat Program (which will operate between April 1, 2007 and March 31, 2011) to the industrial/commercial/institutional sector to install active energy-efficient heating systems. This program offers a 25% rebate off of the purchase, installation and certain other associated costs, for those who wish to install a system which qualifies for the program. Following the signing of a contribution agreement with NRCan, eligible projects must be commissioned and completed within six months.
Additionally, energy service companies and non-governmental organizations in Canada will, in cases of projects conducted with energy utilities, explore ways to make solar water heating systems more accessible to the population. Even though this program does not offer direct incentives to Canadian Home Owners, such large-scale pilot projects are intended to install solar water heating systems to in several thousand homes. It is possible to both save money by installing a sustainable energy solution in your home and get paid to do it!
