Brazed Plate Heat Exchanger - 20 Plate:
The 20 Plate Brazed Plate Heat Exchanger from Silicon Solar Inc allows you to continue to use your existing hot water storage tank as an included part of your new solar hot water heating system.

The SunMaxx Series is designed for a wide variety of fluid to fluid applications requiring exacting heat transfer performance. Hydronic applications include:

• Domestic water heating
• Snow melt systems
• Radiant floor systems
• Cooling tower interface
• High pressure to low pressure isolation
• Glycol to water
• Close approach applications
• Shell/tube replacements

These exchangers are capable of 8F to 10F approach (std) to as low as 3F approach for the larger models. Completely sealed stainless steel construction, copper brazed with a high performance heat transfer surface to promote low fouling. Smaller models include 1/2 to 200 gpm models, and larger sizes range up to 400 gpm. All models have MPT male pipe thread connections and mounting stud bolts.

These exchangers are rated at 450 psi working pressure (both sides) and they feature U.L. Listed, European TUV and optional ASME code construction. The FPN Series is similar, except that it is Nickel Brazed. The FPN is ideal for de-ionized water, solvents and other applications and are rated at 300 psi working pressure.

What is a Heat Exchanger?

A heat exchanger is a device which transfers heat energy from one fluid or gas to another fluid or gas without mixing the two different fluids or gases.

One common example of heat exchangers in action is an automotive radiator. Heat from the hot engine water is pumped through the radiator while air is blown through the radiator tins. The heat energy from the hot engine water is transferred to the air, keeping the water at the right temperature and the engine at the right temperature. Essentially, an automotive radiator is a Liquid to Air Heat Exchanger.

Other types of heat exchangers are common in every day equipment such as boilers, furnaces, refrigerators, air conditioning systems and more. In fact, every air conditioning system and refrigeration system has at least two heat exchangers (one for the cooling side, and one to expel the heat).

GEA FlatPlate heat exchangers are used to heat or cool various fluids or gases. Specifically, they are used for refrigerant to fluid applications, fluid to fluid applications, and sometimes gas applications. What is unique about GEA FlatPlate technology is that it is very compact. It is widely used in residential, commercial and industrial applications as a key system component to transfer heat.
