The Austin City Council chartered the Local Solar Advisory Committee (LSAC) to examine and provide recommendations for Austin’s long-term goal for solar energy in April 2012. The City Council recently took positive steps to accelerate solar energy growth in Austin by approving a $7.5 million budget for solar in fiscal year 2013. The amount of rebate starts from $1,750/kw to $2,500/kw.
A federal tax credit of 30% of cost with no upper limit is currently available for both solar photovoltaic and solar water heating systems.
